Unless you love being cooked under the sun, heatwaves can be really brutal. All you want to do is hide inside and sit in front of your air conditioner, dreaming of the Winter chill.

There are many ways to cool off in Melbourne that don’t involve climbing into your fridge. Here are some options you might choose from:

1. Ice skating

There are many ice skating rinks in Melbourne which will keep you active plus allow you to cool down in the cold temperature. You might even need to bring a jacket!

2. Swimming in the beach

This is a no brainer. Find your nearest beach, pack a towel and sunscreen and enjoy the cool sea throughout out the day.

3. Head to the mall

Shopping centres are always air conditioned. If you want to make a day of it, find a massive mall like Chadstone or Highpoint. You’ll pretty much get lost in the cool atmosphere.

4. Find some epic ice cream

Melbourne has some awesome ice cream places for you to check out. Messina is always a fave, but have you tried places like Candied Bakery (Spotswood) and 7Apples (St Kilda)?

5. Go to the movies

Summer is always a great time to see films because of the many film releases. Enjoy a choc top and a frozen drink as you kill a couple of hours in air conditioned heaven.

6. Road trip to Funfields

If you are looking for some thrills on a hot day, grab your friends and enjoy the fun of one of Victoria’s best theme parks. They’ve got heaps of World Record holding rides including the new Gravity Wave.
