The small north-coast town of Woolgoolga has had it's fair share of loss to mental illness, and the locals have made it their mission to try and change that.

Prominent local and now R U OK Day ambassador Lisa Nichols, who lost her mother to suicide, encourages the whole community to take part in regular workshops and events.

Hosting weekly "Fluro Friday" meet-ups on the beach, "Woopi" residents come together, talk, do yoga and get a good dose of salt water therapy - so they knew R U OK Day was going to be a big event on their calendar.

With the help of Coffs Coast Coastal Drones, Lisa and around a hundred supporters came together this morning for R U OK day and created a human formation to show their support.

The Hit Network's A.B & Ben chatted to Lisa, just prior to the big moment!

Hit Squad's Shawnee headed up to the event as well, and said the show of love from this community was overwhelming.

R U OK Day recognised Woolgoolga's wonderful work at championing conversation at their recent Barbara Hocking Memorial Awards.
