On September 16 hundreds of locals will commence an 18 hour event to celebrate, remember and fight back for those who have been touched by cancer.

Relay For Life is a Cancer Council Queensland fundraiser where you register a team and walk for 18 hours (yes you're definitely allowed to chill out too) to show those touched by cancer that they're not alone.

The theme for this year's event is 'Relay Around the World', with organisers expecting Relayers to turn it into something amazing for their team outfits.

Thousands of dollars have already been raised and the bank account will continue to grow with participants hosting fundraising events all over Townsville until September.

It's not just a walk to remember though, with schools, businesses, families, and individuals all set to be entertained across the event with a variety of local talent on the stage.

The day will start at 2pm with a Survivors and Carers lap, it's really a sight to be seen!

With Relay For Life starting 1 hour earlier this year, that means Relayers will head home at 8am Sunday September 17.

If you want to be there, see more info here or check out the Facebook page.
