Hundreds of patients who went to an unregistered Melbourne beauty therapist could have hepatitis or HIV after cockroaches were discovered crawling over dirty equipment.

Clients who got cosmetic services from a therapist at the Sonoun Kimlee Salon in the Springvale Shopping Centre have been urged to get a blood test immediately.

Victoria's Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said when authorities went to check on the clinic they discovered it was clearly unsafe.

The unregistered salon, at the back of a jewellery shop, operated from January 2018 until recently.

The salon offered tattooing, mole removal, facial fillers and skin cuts for skin tightening.

"We want people to go to their GPs and get tested for Hepatitis B, C and HIV," Dr Sutton said.

People who have visited the salon are urged to go to their GP and get tested for Hepatitis B and C as well as HIV.
