A petition to have a murder charge for Tatura's Angelo Pat Russo re-instated has surpassed 3,000 signatures over the weekend.

Russo is accused of fatally shooting Shepparton man David Calandro in February this year.

The Shepparton Magistrates court has refused to commit Russo to a Murder Trial, citing a lack of evidence.

The accused has been bailed ahead of a Manslaughter trial in May 2018.



Strathbogie Shire has discovered over $5 million worth of damage was made to essential community assets during the recent flood event.

Euroa sustained its highest recorded daily rainfall in 132 years at the start of the month.

The re-opening of bridges and the Euroa Caravan Park are the highest priority items on Council's list, with staff also needing to restore several roads, footpaths and levies that have been damaged.
