We're always looking for ways to encourage a healthy lifestyle, but maybe we should be looking at our elders for inspiration!
In her FoodHacker podcast, Rosie Mansfield explored the Blue Zone Lifestyle. This way of living is based on the habits of people who come from the areas in the world where people live the longest. Blue Zone areas include Sardinia in Italy, Okinawa in Japan, Loma Linda in California, Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica and Ikaria in Greece. People in these areas often live to be over 100 years old!
Some of the habits encouraged by the Blue Zone Lifestyle including daily moderate exercise, eating a mostly plant based diet, practicing mindful eating and staying social.
The best thing about this way of life? Drinking wine daily and taking regular naps are a very important part of ensuring you lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle!
