An additional $40 million will help survivors of domestic violence in Victoria.
The government announced the additional funding today. It will go towards flexible support packages to assist those escaping family violence.
The cash is expected to help more than 5000 women escaping domestic violence situations.
Support packages can help women pay for rent, security measures, education and other costs involved in setting up a new life. The packages are delivered across Victoria by 19 family violence support service providers.
Minister for Families and Children Jenny Mikakos said every Victorian deserves to be safe in their cunnity.
“Every Victorian deserves to feel safe in their community. These packages help women in crisis situations escape family violence and set up a safe home for themselves and their children.”
“We want victim-survivors to regain a sense of confidence and safety after the trauma of family violence – and we will be there to support them on their journey of recovery.”
