Hockey Tasmania fans can take a sigh of relief knowing the team will be part of a national tournament thanks to a $75,000 injection from the Hodgman Government.
The increased costs worth $600,000 over four years was the crippling point for the club, with fears they were unable to gain funding to cover the increase.
Without the cash injected it's likely Tasmania would be locked out of the Australia Hockey League's new tournament format.
The government’s financial assistance would “aid Hockey Tasmania to a sustainable, long-term funding model”.
