The Gold Coast's worst bottlenecks and congestion hot spots have been revealed.

Locals have voted for the most frustrating roads on the Gold Coast in the latest RACQ Red Spot Survey, and many won't be surprised to hear the M1 came out on top.

The stretches of the Pacific Motorway from Eight Mile Plains to Loganholme, and from Varsity Lakes to Elanora were dobbed in as the worst when it came to getting struck in traffic jams.

Three Gold Coast Highway intersections were also named and shamed, including the corner of Pine Ridge Rd at Arundel, Thomas Dr at Surfers Paradise and Hooker Blvd in Broadbeach.

"We also had the Gold Coast Highway and the Mount Lindsay Highway up there as well," said RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross.

She said they would use the information from the survey to lobby for funding to fix the problems.

"We will take this information to local, state and federal government and say that this is where money needs to be spent to reduce that congestion on Gold Coast roads".

Gold Coast’s worst roads according to RACQ’s Red Spot Congestion Survey:

  1. Pacific Motorway (Eight Mile Plains to Loganholme, Exits 41 to 57, and Varsity Lakes to Elanora)
  2. Mt Lindesay Highway (Browns Plains to Jimboomba, and Green Road and Greenbank Road intersections)
  3. Gold Coast Highway (Pine Ridge Road, Thomas Drive and Hooker Boulevard intersections)
  4. Foxwell Road (Learning Street and Amity Road intersections)
  5. Southport Burleigh Road (Christine Avenue, Reedy Creek Road and Markeri Street intersections).
