Campaspe Shire Council is encouraging visitors and locals to soak up the sights of Echuca Moama on a vintage style cruiser bike with the free to hire ‘Port Picnic Bikes’.
Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said six bikes with baskets are available for hire free of charge from the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre between 9am-5pm on any given day.
“This tourism initiative provides visitors and locals the opportunity to cycle their way around town, relishing the atmosphere and keeping fit at the same time,” Cr Weston said.
The hire process is simple and each bike comes with a helmet, lock and town map. Bikes are best suited for adults and can be hired for the day.
Visitors can use the map provided to visit historic landmarks, collect gourmet delicacies from local shops and have a picnic by the river or journey over the bridge to Moama and back.
The program is sponsored by Moama Bowling Club.
