Another anti-coal protester has stopped trains from entering Newcastle Port.

This time ex-mine worker Micah Weekes - who spent nearly ten years in the coal industry - has climbed on top of a loaded coal train at Sandgate.

The Central Coast father says he's trying to raise awareness about the health impacts of coal mining.

"You don't have to work in the industry to get sick from this. My kids are gonna get sick. Its already happening. People in my community have reoccurring illnesses, respiratory issues, cancer, tumours," he said.

It's the latest protest on the rail line, with more action planned on Friday and Saturday as part of the Act Up campaign which has vowed to shut down Newcastle Port.
