Footage has emerged of a massive brawl sparked on board a Scoot flight from the Gold Coast to Singapore.

Scoot flight TR7 was delayed leaving Coolangatta Airport on Monday afternoon, and was around one hour and 20 minutes into the flight when the scuffle erupted.

It is believed a man was drinking heavily and disturbing passengers, and had to be pinned down when he allegedly started lashing at others.

It's understood a restraining kit was used to tie his wrists, with the man held down for more than three hours.

The flight was forced to turn around and divert to Sydney, landing at around 4.30pm AEDT.

Australian Federal Police are investigating the incident.
