Tuesday's Federal budget is set include ten billion dollars funnelled across the states and territories for infrastructure projects over the next decade.

Reports are estimating that the government will splash out three billion dollars across both NSW and Victoria, while Queensland will get one point six.

Two billion dollars will be pumped into a new freight hub in Melbourne and a two-billion-dollar upgrade to the Great Western Highway between Katoomba and Lithgow in New South Wales.

Other projects set to improve safety and ease congestion across the country include big spends on the North-south Corridor and Truro Bypass in South Australia, Tasmania's Bass Highway, the National Highway Network in the NT and William Hovell Drive in the ACT

Tuesday's budget will also see funding outlined for rail and freight upgrades in Queensland and Western Australia designed to create local jobs and boost productivity in the COVID-affected national economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack remarked in an address to the regional Australia Institute that the regions remained at heart of the federal government’s economic recovery plan, and this year’s budget would support that.

"Whether it’s the regional areas with the building better regions fund, such a good program to build that vital community infrastructure right across the nation, right across our regions" said the Deputy PM.

Money is also being set aside for women's health, aged care and defence.
