Google Street View has gone bush on the Gold Coast.

Tourists and nature lovers can now check out 360° views of our biggest attractions, some only accessible by foot, like Natural Bridge and Lamington National Park.

More than 40 iconic destinations have been captured by the Google Street View Trekker, which involved hikers wearing an 18kg backpack with 15 camera lenses mounted on it, that takes photos every few seconds as they walk along.

It took Destination Gold Coast four months to complete the project, becoming the first Queensland organisation to use the new technology.

Destination Gold Coast CEO Martin Winter said it provides a virtual view of some of our best walks and attractions, and gives those with mobility concerns a chance to experience it too.

“People who are considering travelling to the Gold Coast can now immerse themselves in what the destination truly has to offer - it’s the ultimate try-before-you-buy form of tourism,” he said.
