First established in 2002, the Gold Coast Film Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever this year, hosting over 175 films, panels, parties and events across the 12 day festival calendar

The festival aims to bring diverse Australian and International films, filmmakers and film events to the Gold Coast.

One such film is Under The Silver Lake, a mystery film described as a "profoundly weird and iconoclastic... millennial slacker noir" starring Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man; Hacksaw Ridge; The Social Network) and Riley Keough (The House That Jack Built; Hold the Dark).

The feature film tells the story of Sam, a bored millennial with a penchant for conspiracy theories. When his mysterious and attractive neighbour suddenly goes missing, Sam embarks on a self-appointed mission revealing dog killers, goth bands and roving girl gangs.

The film is just one of many to hit the screens over the course of the festival, setting a massive standard for years to follow.

"The Gold Coast Film Festival reinforces our city’s position as one of Australia’s leading filmmaking destinations, by promoting emerging Australian filmmakers and creating educational and professional development opportunities for film industry practitioners."
