Are you a mover and shaker across New South Wales who deserves to be recognised? Well, entries for the 2019 Regional Tourism Awards are now open, giving you an opportunity to put your best foot forward & put your town on the map as a must-see destination.

This annual awards program celebrates the best and brightest across the state, with 27 categories across tour operators and restaurants, through to unique accommodation listings and education providers open for entries!

The regional awards program will include all six Destination Networks. This includes Country & Outback, North Coast, Riverina Murray, Southern NSW, Sydney Surrounds North and Sydney Surrounds South.

The awards offer tourism organisations and individuals well-deserved recognition for their success, as well as the chance to gain valuable insight into their business and industry.

Destination Riverina Murray General Manager Richie Robinson said the event is a prime networking opportunity for operators to mingle, learn from each and celebrate the sector.

“The Regional Tourism Awards are a highlight on the industry calendar each year and pivotal in supporting the development of countless businesses and tourism destinations. Regional tourism is critical to the economic growth and prosperity of Destination Riverina Murray, and our visitor numbers continue to go from strength to strength.

“Since their inception, the Awards has been credited for elevating many regional tourism businesses to achieve state-wide and national acclaim. It’s also an excellent opportunity for stakeholders to showcase what they have to offer”, said Richie Robinson.

Wagga Wagga cooking school Food I Am was acknowledged for its contribution to tourism in the region at the 2018 Awards. Owner Tania Sibrey said she was thrilled with the recognition of her business, which opened its doors in 2011.

“I was delighted that my business, which has been such a dream for me, was recognised at such a prestigious event,” Tania said. “We offer a unique blend of quality food, wine and agritourism experiences and really love emphasising local produce. It was very special to be celebrated for bringing a metro culinary experience to the country”, said Ms Sibrey.

Gala dinners to present the winners in each region will be held around the state in late July and early August, with dates and destinations to be revealed soon.

Interested operators can find out more and enter the Awards online at regionaltourismawards.com.au.
