A suspended driver wanted for breaching bail has added more charges to his rap sheet, after allegedly stealing a car and taking off down the M1 on the Central Coast.

Officers allege he stole the keys to the Nissan Navara in Maitland while the owner was working.

The 27-year-old reportedly made his way south then and didn't stop after hitting another car on the M1 through Tuggerah Lakes.

Police pursued him at Mount White, eventually nabbing the guy when he got caught in traffic at Wahroonga in northern Sydney.

He's been refused bail ahead of fronting Hornsby Court today, on charges for high range drink driving, negligent driving, leading police on the chase and not exchanging details with the other driver he smashed into up north.

While Brisbane Water Police say he's also due in court in Moss Vale, in the Southern Highlands, next month on fraud charges.
