A woman has been charged over a serious crash outside of Byron Bay last year.

A teenage driver was badly hurt when two cars collided on Myocum Road at Ewingsdale in October.

The 19-year-old woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a fractured spine and sternum.

Following an extensive investigation, Tweed/Byron Police arrested and charged the 32-year-old driver of the other vehicle on Sunday night.

The woman was hit with 21 charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, causing bodily harm by misconduct and possession of prohibited drugs.

She was granted bail to appear in Byron Bay Local Court on June 27.
