The RSPCA has praised workers at Willowbank tip who found a little dog inside a plastic bag.
The pooch was heard yelping from inside an industrial bin being emptied by the men yesterday afternoon with its legs tied together.
RSPCA Spokesman Michael Beatty said the dog had an injury to his left hip.
"We don't know whether or not it had that injury before it was dumped or whether or not it was because it was dumped," he said.
"As you can understand it was very scared, it was basically in shock. It was very dehydrated, filthy."
After a clean up and some food and water the workers took the little dog to the RSPCA's animal hospital.
The dog was microchipped and reported missing yesterday afternoon by its owner but the RSPCA says they still don't know how it ended tied up in the plastic bag.
They're urging anyone who any information to call 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625)
