The annual three-day mining forum provides a massive boost for Kalgoorlie businesses, in particular for local pubs and hotels, and is a welcome injection into the local economy.

The Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum starts on Monday, and brings thousands of mining industry delegates to town from all over the world. With gold soaring past $2,000 an ounce in June this year, this could be the biggest event yet and is a massive boost to the area.

York Hotel owner John Dickhart said that the event has gotten so big, it may have even surpassed the Kalgoorlie Cup.

"Race Round was always good for Kalgoorlie as well, but I think Diggers and Dealers passes it now" said Mr. Dickhart.

The event has happened in Kalgorrlie for the last 27 years, and Exchange Hotel owner Lawson Douglas said it "has added immense value to Kalgoorlie and all of the businesses in it."

"We are extremely fortunate as a town to have a high-profile mining forum choose Kalgoorlie for its home".

The event starts on Monday and runs from the 5th-7th of August.
