Demo Works Underway To Tear Down Gold Coast Icon

The iconic Broadbeach Carousel is being torn down this week, despite a fight by local businesses and a former councillor to try to save it.

Gold Coast City Council voted to pull down the merry-go-round in the Oasis mall, with demolition works starting on Monday.

All is not lost though, with some of the horses and mechanical parts being sent to the Showman's Guild.

It will take a week to remove the ride and it will be replaced by seating and timber flooring.
