Dame Anna Wintour has called for Margaret Court Arena to be renamed while speaking at an Australian Open event.

The Editor-in-Chief of Vogue and Artistic Director of Conde Nast, is headlining the event, which is designed to celebrate women’s achievements and shine light on gender equality issues.

During her opening address, she called for a review of the naming of Margaret Court arena:

“Margaret was a champion on the court but a meeting point of players of all backgrounds must celebrate someone who was a champion off the court as well.”

“It is inconsistent for the sport for Margaret Court’s name to be on the stadium that does so much to bring all people together across their differences.”
