Crime Stats Released For Central Victoria
Rates improve in 4 of 7 municipalities
The latest Crime stats for Victoria have been released and it’s showing a 7 per cent decrease in the number of offences committed around the state in the 12 months up to March compared with the previous year.
In Central Victoria, Central Goldfields has the highest crime rate in the region and the 4th highest in Regional Victoria - jumping up 24.7 per cent to 12181.8 offences per 100,000 people.
Campaspe suffered a minor increase of 0.1 per cent and Loddon rose 0.6 per cent.
Greater Bendigo dropped 9.5 per cent to 8410.6, Mount Alexander had one of the biggest decreases in the state at 32 per cent, Macedon Ranges went down 7.3 and Gannawarra improved 14.2 per cent.
Theft was the most regularly occurring offence in all of the 7 shires - while police also dealt with a large number of property damage, burglaries or break ins and assault related offences.
