It's finally that time of year... cricket season is upon us!

For all the Tassie cricket tragics out there, this year is shaping up to be a good one, with a total of 10 matches to be played across the state in December, including 4 matches between non-Tasmanian teams for the first time ever.

The Hobart Hurricanes will host defending champions the Sydney Sixers in the opening clash of the KFC Big Bash League.

The boys were joined this morning by Cricket Tasmania CEO Dominic Baker, who talked about the upcoming season and emphasised how important it is for Tasmanians to show up and support the sport.

"We're making a big pitch to Cricket Australia to have more content down in Tasmania over the next couple of years. So this is a great way for us to show that Tasmanians love the game, and they love the sport, and they'll show up."
