Actor Craig McLachlan's indecent assault case will be heard by a magistrate instead of going to trial before a Jury.

The 53-year-old will plead "Not Guilty" to nine charges during his time performing in The Rocky Horror Show musical in 2014.

Today's decision means he now faces a lesser penalty of up to two years jail if found guilty of a single charge - or five years maximum for multiple charges.
