This morning on AB & Ben, they spoke to team leader of the Coffs Harbour City Council Lifesaving Club, Greg Hackfath about new technology being proposed to decrease drownings in the area.

After four people lost their lives at Moonee Beach in two separate drownings in December 2018, father-son duo, Jackson & Dean Harrigan have come up with a system to save lives.

Ocean Live uses red, amber and white lights to warn swimmers of rips, sand banks, sharks and UV rays.

The duo have offered trials of the technology at Moonee Beach, due to it being unpatrolled and the number of dangers it poses, including a rip which saw six people swept out to see and three of them drowning in December 2018.

So, could this be the answer to stop drownings at our local Moonee Beach? Listen below!
