Ever wanted to combine a workout with doing something good for the environment? Well, now you can!

Greater Shepparton City Council and RiverConnect are hosting their third annual Plogging session this Saturday, January 12 at Stuart's Reserve from 9am!

But what's Plogging, you ask? It's the new socially and environmentally-conscious exercise blending jogging (or exercising) with picking up rubbish! This means you get a good workout while doing something good for your local parks.

The morning will consist of a light jog around some of Greater Shepparton's best walking tracks whule using rubbish pick up tools to remove any traces of litter in the area.

RiverConnect Project Officer Meg Pethybridge said it was a great learning opportunity for Children.

“The activity helps to teach kids about keeping the bush clean for native wildlife and about being mindful of our environmental impact,” she said.

“Plus it’s a great workout involving stretching and cardio. The rubbish picker tools really test your grip strength.”

RiverConnect will provide the rubbish packs, 'picker uppers' and will dispose of the rubbish - you just need to bring running shoes, a hat and drink bottle!
