A Catholic church in Switzerland has replaced the sound of its bells with a classic ringtone whilst the building undergoes renovations.
So, instead of ominous bongs every hour, the citizens of Lucerne now hear 'Opening', one of the iPhone's most iconic ringtones.
The church reached out to the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences to help them come up with a sound that they could replace the bells with and, well, it's not the sound we would have come up with... but it isn't too bad.
Apparently, it was a couple of students who came up with the idea of using the ringtone instead of the sound of actual bells and they told the BBC that their phones are like Gods to them, so why not use a ringtone?!
"We confide everything to our mobile phone, we communicate with them when alone. We ask them for advice. All of those tasks are actually attributed to the gods.”
The ringtone will be playing every hour until July 30.
