69 year old Howard John Hawke will spend the next 10 years 3 months behind bars for planning to rape young children in Thailand as filming sexual abuse of a 16 year Thai girl.

The Kangaroo Flat man was sentenced in the Melbourne County Court yesterday after pleading guilty to 7 offenses including attempt to procure a child for sexual activity outside Australia.

Hawke was arrested in March 2016 after police intercepted phone calls between him and the mother of the child he sexually abused - he's been added to the sex offenders register for life.

Campaspe Shire has approved an application for a solar farm at Park Road, Lancaster.

The 100 MegaWatt facility will generate an inverter capacity of 80 megawatts of power - which'll connect to the Shepparton-Kyabram powerline.

Mayor Adrian Weston says after construction's complete - four full time and eight part time workers will be required to maintain and monitor the facility.

The Bendigo Relay For Life is happening again today at Backhaus Oval in Golden Square to raise funds for the Cancer Council

More than 550 people have signed up for this year's event and have so far raised over $125,000 as they aim to crack $180,000

Events will be on all throughout the night for spectators and walkers alike beginning with the opening ceremony at 630pm.
