A 39 year old Maryborough man has been arrested in relation to the death of a 52 year old woman in Maryborough yesterday.

KAREN ASHCROFT was found at the Alma St property around 3.45am with serious injuries and paramedics treated her at the scene but she died a short time later

The man was found just before midday in a nearby stormwater drain and was transported to the Bendigo hospital where he’s currently in a stable condition under police guard.


The Campaspe Shire Council’s submitted a permit application to Heritage Victoria to demolish the old Oscar W’s restaurant in Echuca.

It’s so they can begin works to construct a new 65 metre retaining wall at the Echuca Wharf after the river bank was destabilised in 2016.

Campaspe mayor Adrian Weston is expecting the application process to take 60 days with work to begin immediately after they receive word from Heritage Victoria.


This week is Law week in Victoria and there’s a number of free events being put on in Central Victoria to make learning about the law easy fun and entertaining.

Over the next 3 days at the Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo, Castlemaine and Kyneton libraries will be hosting education sessions to get free legal advice on ranges relating to Wills and Powers of Attorney and family law

While on Friday, there’s a Talking Justice debate on the Me Too movement at the Bendigo Town Hall.


New research released this week by AMAZE is finding most regions residents have a good awareness for Autsim but wouldn't know what to do to support them.

It comes as the organisation kicks off its DO ONE THING FOR AUTISM campaign to build greater understanding of how autistic people can be supported by the community.

Amaze CEO Fiona Sharkie says the research is surprising given nearly 85% of Australians have contact with an autistic person.
