The library at The Entrance is set to close by the end of July 2021.
It comes after a strong fight by the community attempting to keep the library open.
Council Confirms Closing Of Library:
Member of The Entrance David Mehan, was leading the charge to save the library from being closed, saying it was an essential service.
“Never before have so many people made a submission on the operational plan; that’s what council will do over the next 12 months. Most of the submission said they wanted the library entrance to stay open. Despite that, in the council staff document that will go to council meeting tonight, still want to close the library”, he said.

After the council meeting on June 29, Administrator Dick Persson decided not to adopt the operational plan and therefore shut down the library.
Council came to the consensus that the Entrance branch was no longer viable, and closing it was part of their long term financial sustainability.
Mehan said, “It’s a real disappointment for my community and a sad reflection on what amalgamation has produced on the central coast. We now have fewer libraries than we did before amalgamation”.
Bateau Bay is the next closest library, located about 5km from the shopping centre.
