Cardi B & Cher Have Reacted To Their Shoutouts In Taylor Swift’s Music Video

Just after 10pm AEST last night, Swifties like myself all over the world gathered around their computer screens as Taylor Swift premiered her new music video for 'You Need To Calm Down', and boy, did she deliver!
It had everything from celebrity cameos to career Easter eggs, and an overall message of equality and empowerment. Also, great fashion.

SO, as you can see, there was a lot happening.
Two major moments include the beginning shot which displays the words ‘Mom, I am a rich man’ in a cross-stitch, as well as a Pop Queen Pageant which sees some of the biggest female names in music lined up to compete for the crown… before agreeing they are all queens.
In case you weren’t aware, ‘Mom, I am a rich man’ is actually an iconic quote from Cher, who in a 1996 interview said:
“My mom said to me: ‘You know sweetheart, one day you should settle down and marry a rich man’ and I said ‘Mom, I am a a rich man.’”
Now, Cher has reacted to having her quote featured in Taylor’s new video!
Taking to social media, the ‘Goddess of Pop’ tweeted the image of her quote, before elaborating on the story and message behind it.
Cher definitely approves of her inclusion in the video, but she also has us speculating whether she will feature on Taylor’s new album, Lover?
Brendan Urie of course, already featured on the lead track ‘ME!’ and Taylor has teased at a collaboration with the Dixie Chicks, so… watch this space!
Now on to the Pop Queen Pageant.
In this sequence, we see Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Adele, Cardi B, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj all portrayed as the current ‘competitive’ Queens of Pop (not sure where Rihanna and Miley are, but that’s really not the point.)
So far, the only star to react to being featured is Cardi B who retweeted the scene with the caption: “Soooo cute”.
