A bushfire watch and act remains in place for the northern part of Cape Le Grand National Park this morning after a bushfire saw the park close and campers evacuated.

Parks and Wildlife Service first issued an alert after lightning caused a fire about 7AM on Thursday, February 21.

According to DFES, firefighters are still on the scene as the fire is out of control and continues to move in a north westerly direction. It is understood about 30 hectares of the National Park have been burnt.

A number of road closures remain in place, including Cape Le Grand Road, Dunns Rock Road, Wylie Beach access, Hellfire Bay Road and the Coastal Walk Trail between Le Grand Beach and Hellfire Bay.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and be aware of emergency services personnel on the scene.
