More than 1000 fireworks have been seized, after a man was busted with the haul in his Ute in Chester Hill.

The 26-year-old was charged by police after his Holden Colorado was searched shortly after 7:30pm on Monday night.

Acting Inspector Paul Stamoulis from Bankstown Police reminding us to leave fireworks to the experts.

"A lot of people attempt to go interstate and purchase fireworks, to bring them into New South Wales to use," he told the Hit Newsroom.

"Unfortunately that's illegal, you can't do that.

"If members of the community are aware that fireworks are going off in their area, or understand if any person is in possession them, they can contact their local police station or Crimestoppers."

The man is due to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday January 16 2019.
