Heat captain Chris Lynn smashes a ball into the water at Main Beach

A couple of Brisbane Heat stars have an enjoyed a game of beach cricket for a good cause at Main Beach today, ahead of tomorrow's first ever Big Bash match at Metricon Stadium.

Captain Chris Lynn and spin bowler Mitchell Swepson mixed it with locals on the sand in front of Southport Surf Club on Friday to support the KFC Youth Foundation, which works with charity groups Reach and YoungCare.

"As cricketers there's a lot of ways we can give back and this KFC Youth Foundation is one that we're going to push throughout the Big Bash and we're really excited to be a part of it," said Lynn.

The skipper predicted Saturday's clash against the Hobart Hurricanes could turn in to a grind compared to previous home matches at the Gabba, potentially putting a damper on the spectacle.

"We normally have high scoring battles with them at the Gabba, but obviously Metricon's slightly different," said Lynn.

"I think it's going to be a grind.

"At the Gabba conditions are pretty batting friendly so it's going to be a different challenge here at Metricon on a slightly slower wicket."

Brisbane will make one change to the squad that lost to the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba on Wednesday, with Gold Coast local Matthew Kuhnemann replacing fast bowler James Pattinson, who is out due to personal reasons.
