Swimmers will be able to take a dip in the Belmont Baths by the end of the year.
Lake Macquarie City Council has confirmed work will start on the reconstructed baths on September 17.
The new facility will include a 70m jetty and 45m-wide swimming enclosure.
They're expected to open by late December.
A second stage of works will be completed in early-2019, featuring a new amenities block and foreshore landscaping works.
“The community has been looking forward to these revamped baths since the jetty was damaged beyond repair in the 2015 super-storm,” Mayor Kay Fraser said.
“The lake is our jewel and our major recreational asset, so we want people to use it. Our priority is to create a safe area that is delivered quickly and encourages people to swim in the lake once again.”
