Queenscliff Beach and Manly Lagoon have been closed in the aftermath of the Brookvale storage facility fire.

The fire, which has been burning for over 24 hours now, is expected to still be smouldering for several days.

Run off from the foam substances firefighters are using to try to control the blaze has seeped into Brookvale Creek - which runs into Manly Lagoon.

A council spokesperson has confirmed that the aforementioned beaches will be closed over the weekend due to the foam's toxicity and the fact that the run-off could also contain toxins from items that were inside the Rent A Space storage facility.
