If you’re a sucker for giving your newborn endless cuddles, then we’ve got good news for you!

According to new research, hugs actually better help your child’s development!

Ohio’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital conducted a survey to show the difference in how premature and full-term babies respond to touch.

The results?

Babies who get more affection display stronger responses in their brains!

Premature babies tend to respond to affection less than those carried for a full term, meaning it’s super important for them to get cuddles from their parents.

Dr. Nathalie Maitre, a neonatologist and research investigator, spoke to Science Daily, explaining, "Making sure that preterm babies receive positive, supportive touch such as skin-to-skin care by parents is essential to help their brains respond to gentle touch in ways similar to those of babies who experienced an entire pregnancy inside their mother's womb.”

See! Cuddles ARE good!

Did YOU get enough cuddles as a kid? Or could the lack of cuddles have impacted on how you are now?
