Australia’s population is growing by one person every 1 minute and 26 seconds – fuelled by a swell in Victoria's population.
Victoria has grown a whopping 2.4 per cent over the past year, while the national average was 1.6per cent.
Queensland is also growing faster than the national average – with the population growing by 81,300 people in 2017, an increase of 1.7 percent.
NSW has grown 1.6 per cent – spot on the national average.
Migration added 250,100 people to the population, making up 63 per cent of population growth, while there were 306,500 births in 2017.
There are now more than 25 million people living in Australia.
