Smashed avocado is a brunch dish that will go down in history. It has been celebrated throughout Melbourne… and it has even made headlines!

Now, avocado fans will be able to spend the day celebrating this beautiful food with a dedicated festival, which will also feature a lot of live music.

Some of Melbourne’s most-loved breakfast joints will be there handing out their avocado-on-toast creations. There will also be plenty of activities, like an avocado and spoon race (!), performance artists and glitter painting for kids and kids at heart.

If you want to learn more about making the perfect breakfast, there will also be smashed avo masterclasses with breakfast chefs.

Dustin Guilloux, one of the collaborators of the event, said the team want to show haters they are wrong when it comes to millennials.

“We wanted to tell the young people of Melbourne that those who confuse eating a nice breakfast with the housing affordability crisis are way off the mark.

“This is about celebrating everything that is great about Melbourne, while taking a bit of a stab at people who politicise what we eat for breakfast.”

Now that’s a cause I can get around!
