After Refusing In Sydney, Kacey Musgraves Finally Did A Shoey In Melbourne
An Australian tradition.
Drinking out of a shoe, or doing a ‘shoey’ as commonly called, is one of Australia’s most random traditions. Whether you’ve done it or shiver at the sight, it’s always going to be embedded into our culture.
Because of its Australian heritage, it sparked a fan to encourage country music superstar Kacey Musgraves to have a go at it as she performed in Sydney during her world tour.
We’re going to assume she had no idea what the crowd was talking about, and when one of the fans offered up his own shoe in place of her open heels, it’s no surprise she politely declined.
After it made headlines, Kacey whipped up the courage at her Melbourne show days later, drinking out of a glass slipper!
“I guess maybe in Sydney, I wasn’t in the mood,” the singer said, “tonight is our last show, so…”
We’re glad she got the chance to do something very Australian before she leaves the country.
