Are you flooded with feelings of anxiety at the mere thought of a trip to the dentist?

How would you feel if you knew your next visit would include time spent with a miniature labradoodle?

Because this is now a reality for one Adelaide dental clinic!

Fairview Park Dental have welcomed their newest staff member, Archie, a ‘dental aid’ therapy dog hired to keep patients nerves at bay during their visit - he also doesn’t shed any hair, reassuring anyone worried about hygiene.

Dr Michael Ikonomos told 7News, "He greets you at reception and you have a little play and a cuddle. Your mood is just lifted and more calming."

Lynn Sinclair, a patient whose grandson is on the autism spectrum, said that Archie helped calm her grandson down during his first big dental visit.

"He said to me afterwards he wasn't at all nervous,” she explained.

"(Archie) would nudge him as if to say, 'pat me' - it was an overall pleasant sensory experience (for him) to touch his coat."
