If you are a foodie looking for something to do over the next few weeks, look o further than this because Acre Eatery is transforming into an Italian farmhouse hideaway for a  6-week Italian takeover!

It kicks off on July 1st and the menu will be inspired by traditional and modern Italian cooking.

Acre’s immersive takeover is a rare opportunity to experience a sensory journey through Italy’s enriched history with food and wine from this winsome venue in Sydney’s inner west at Camperdown Commons.

Transforming the eatery’s stunning dining room, al fresco garden terrace and takeaway outlet into an elegant Italian farmhouse, the new space evokes bucolic charm with light, neutral tones, beautiful wooden tables and modern furnishings for an understated yet luxurious feel.

Reminiscent of a Tuscan farmhouse in summer, the indoor dining room features flora and fauna by Sydney-based florist, Petal and Fern, alongside olive and citrus trees, four large scale ‘garden gate’ hanging installations and a focal farm-table centrepiece showcasing fresh produce.

The al fresco garden terrace adds an element of fun akin to an Aperitivo spritz bar with green and white striped awnings, a creative light installation from Sydney-based designer, Luke Coxon and a wood-fire lit daily producing pizza and homemade breads.

A culinary journey inspired by authentic Italian regional cooking, the evolving menu features dishes such as hearty, slow-cooked paradelle from Piedmont at the foot of the alps in Italy’s north, creamy carbonara and thick hand-rolled pasta from the city of Rome in Italy’s central Lazio region, and rich, tomato and meatball dishes unique to southern Italy.

Open Wednesday through to Sunday, Acre’s dining room, garden terrace and lawn will offer up a true taste of Italian dining from breakfast to supper.

Desserts are proudly displayed on a traditional dessert trolley and will feature 35 different Italian sweets, over the duration of the takeover to mark its 35-day run.

Two collaborative dinners will be hosted during the takeover, exploring the journey from farm to fork and grape to glass.

On Saturday 20 July, Acre will join forces with Southern NSW truffle grower and wine producer, 4 Winds, to offer a four-course truffle infused menu paired with Australian-grown Italian varietal wines.

A subsequent candlelit dinner, hosted on Friday 2 August, will feature a Sicilian four-course feasting banquet, paired with Italian varietal wines grown in the Hunter Valley.

Every Friday, a revolving series of hands-on tasting experiences will be hosted in the farmhouse eatery. Watch Head Chef Gareth as he demonstrates the art of perfecting Porchetta in an outdoor wood fire, learn to knead dough and bake your own focaccia and make fresh mozzarella in 90-minute masterclasses, each followed by grazing tables to enjoy the fruits of labour.

Acre’s transformation into an Italian eatery is not your average winter pop-up.
