The history and culture of the Aboriginal people in the region have been researched and documented to try to boost tourism numbers.

The University of Southern Queensland has been helping out with the project to develop the South West Indigenous Cultural Trail.

A website has been developed along with brochures that tell the stories of aboriginal people in our community.  People will also be able to learn of the history and landmarks.

Surat Aboriginal Corporations Angelia Walsh says it's a way to share their history and culture before older generations pass on and reinstate any Aboriginal past that remain all but visible in many places.

Australian Aboriginal culture is one of the oldest surviving cultures in the world.
