Mossman detectives charged a man on the weekend as a result of investigations into a late-night disturbance outside a Port Douglas licensed premises on Friday.
It will be alleged that two men had left the Macrossan Street premises at around 11.40pm on Friday and had both been outside when a verbal altercation occurred between the pair.
It will be alleged that a 41-year-old Port Douglas man was punched to head, causing him to fall to the footpath and lose consciousness.
Ambulance officers attended the scene and the man was transported to Cairns hospital for examination and treatment. He sustained a cut to the head and bruising as a result of the alleged incident.
Detectives spoke with an 18-year-old Wonga Beach man on Saturday afternoon. He was subsequently charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is expected to appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on April 17.
