Police yesterday arrested a 19-year-old Earlville man in relation to an armed robbery that occurred late Saturday night.

It will be alleged that the man approached two 16-year-old boys, grabbing one by the throat. The man then demanded they hand over a mobile phone and speaker.

During the ordeal it will be further alleged that the Earlville man also threatened the two boys with a glass bottle before attempting to strike one of the boys in the face. One boy sustained an injury to his hand whilst trying to protect himself.

The two boys handed over a mobile phone and portable speaker before running to a nearby business for help.

Yesterday Police executed a search warrant on an Ishmael road address, at this time Police located the stolen speaker and arrested the Earlville man.

The man was later charged with two counts of Armed Robbery, he will appear at Cairns Magistrates Court today.
