A man's been charged following a traffic crash on the Esplanade.
He'll face court in May.
Police charged a 32-year-old man following a single vehicle traffic crash on Cairns Esplanade yesterday morning.
It will be alleged that the man was driving east along Florence Street, Cairns City at a significant speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The man’s vehicle crossed over a number of concrete traffic islands before colliding with a light post and a garden bed adjacent to a popular foot path.
It will be further alleged that the man returned a positive roadside breath test with a reading of 0.101 per cent.
Police later charged the man with one count each of mid-range drink driving and failing to comply with an interlock condition.
The man is scheduled to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on May 4.
