A man has been charged following a terrifying Police standoff in Paget. The sixty-one year old Carmilla man was allegedly threatening the manager of a Caterpillar Drive business around 10:30 yesterday morning. Police negotiators spoke with him for around twenty minutes before the manager was released safely. Nobody was injured and the man is due to face Mackay Magistrates Court today.

A woman is recovering in hospital following an alleged assault in Mackay. Paramedics were called to Sophia Street around eleven yesterday morning. The woman was reportedly assaulted by a man and left unconscious on the side of the road near UnitingCare. She was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition for a head injury.

Endometriosis Awareness is on the top of the agenda this month for Endo-March. The Queensland Endometriosis Organisation saying 1 in 10 women in Mackay suffer from the disease, and many of them are facing it without medical support. Q-Endo Spokesperson Ashley Webb says it's often a hidden issue.

Queensland health say more than half of Mackay and Whitsunday women between the age of 50 and 74 aren't getting regular breast screen checks. Only 60 per cent in our region are taking advantage of the service, with time one of the main factors as to why woman aren't seeing their doctor. Executive Director of Preventive Health, Kaye Pulsford says it’s important we get checked regularly.
