Welcome to a childs paradise.

The Children's festival is back for 2018, inviting childre across Hobart to CREATE at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG)!

A chance to get creative through art, science, sound and movement, create connections and a whole stack of memories!

Across six big days TMAG turns itself over to Hobart's little locals, with a range of special events, displays, performances, programs and activities for and by children.

Here are some of the key activities on offer across the festival:

Build The Future

Imagine the cities of the future. What would they look like? Work with architects to bring the city of your imagination to life.

Location: Central Gallery

Where: Tuesday 10:15 am – 1:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Footpath Chalk Gallery

Take the festival to the streets! Contribute to the footpath gallery by creating a chalk masterpiece of your own.

Location: Dunn Place Footpath

When: Tuesday 10:15 am – 12:00 pm Wednesday – Sunday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Energetic Afternoons

Get your body moving!

Location: Courtyard

Session time: 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Imaginative Infusion

Join MONA’s 24 Carrot Garden team and dip into the delights of your senses. Experiment with local seasonal produce to create a yummy herbal tea!

Location: Watergate Lawn

When: Friday 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Naturally Inspired

Grow as an artist as we experiment with biodegradable materials to make temporary patterns and sculptures in TMAG’s Welcome Garden.
