70-Year-Old Turtle Rescued At Kurrawa Beach
There's Fears It May Have Eaten Plastic
Surf Lifesavers have teamed up with Sea World experts at Kurrawa Beach this morning to rescue a turtle.
The animal is believed to be aged around 60 or 70-years-old.
It took five people to lift the turtle which was affectionately nicknamed "Kurrawa".
It washed up on Saturday with a sunken belly, which may have been caused from eating plastic.
"Kurrawa" is now enjoying a freshwater bath at Sea World.
It's a timely reminder to reduce our plastic consumption and to discard all waste properly to protect marine life.
